The Last of Us’ Heads to Seattle and You Can Too!

Are you planning to travel to Seattle to see all the locations in HBO’s the Last of Us?

The popular show is returning for a highly anticipated second season, and if you are a fan like me, you can’t wait.

Video game fans already know what’s coming (no spoilers please) and will recognize many of the locations from The Last of Us: Part II. While the show filmed primarily in Vancouver, BC, Seattle serves as the backdrop for much of the story in the game.

If you’re a fan planning a trip, here are some of the city’s most notable landmarks that could feature prominently in the show.

The Paramount Theatre

One of Seattle’s most iconic entertainment venues, the Paramount Theatre is an important setting in The Last of Us: Part II. In the game, this abandoned theater becomes a tense battleground filled with danger as Ellie navigates its darkened halls.

The real-life venue, located in downtown Seattle, is a historic site known for hosting concerts, Broadway shows and other live performances. While it may not be as overgrown or eerie as depicted in the game, its architecture makes it a must-visit for fans.

The Seattle Great Wheel

The Seattle Great Wheel is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, sitting along the waterfront at Pier 57. While it doesn’t play a major role in the game, its presence in the Seattle skyline is unmistakable. The Ferris wheel’s towering silhouette could easily make an appearance in the show as a backdrop to the city’s post-apocalyptic setting.

For visitors, riding the Great Wheel offers stunning views of Elliott Bay and the surrounding mountains—a stark contrast to the flooded and crumbling Seattle that will be featured as part of The Last of Us universe.

The Chinatown Gate

Seattle’s Chinatown-International District is a vibrant neighborhood filled with history, culture and delicious food. In The Last of Us: Part II, Ellie moves through parts of Seattle’s Chinatown area while facing off against enemies and it’s possible that this entrance could be featured.

Exploring this district in real life provides a chance to experience its authentic cuisine, historic buildings, and local markets—without the post-apocalyptic threats, of course.

Other Possible Locations

Seattle in The Last of Us: Part II features many real-world locations, including areas inspired by the Seattle Convention Center, the waterfront, and even the University of Washington. While HBO’s adaptation may take creative liberties, it’s likely that fans will recognize elements of the city throughout Season 2.

Plan Travel to Seattle

Even though the show filmed in Vancouver, Seattle remains the true setting for Ellie’s journey. Visiting these locations offers a unique way to immerse yourself in the world of the game while experiencing the real-life charm of the Emerald City. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just discovering the story, Seattle’s landmarks provide a fascinating glimpse into the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us.
